Certification
of Fiber Installation Personnel
Your
group can become certified at basic and advanced levels. The Fiber Optic Association (FOA) has approved Pearson Technologies
to provide basic certification. Pearson Technologies provides the basic
certification, known as the Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT). This
certification requires training or equivalent experience and an examination. As
the last activity of a program, Pearson Technologies administers the
certification examination.
The
FOA has approved Pearson Technologies to provide advanced certifications, known
as Certified Fiber Optic Specialists (CFOS/x). This certification requires
training or equivalent experience and an examination. At the time of this
writing, Pearson Technologies provides advanced certifications in connector
installation (CFOS/C), testing (CFOS/T), splicing (CFOS/S), and passive optical
networks (CFOS/H). As the last activity of a program, Pearson Technologies administers
the certification examination.
